A project was implemented to produce 100 M3/D from a raw water supply. The project had some unique issues to deal with in respect to the raw water supply and the ability to produce potable water:
- High turbidity
- Blue-green algal counts
- Relatively high manganese and iron concentration
Alpha Concepts supplied a plant that utilised an initial oxidation step to allow precipitation of manganese and iron, clarification, sand filtration, activated carbon filtration, micron filtering, ultrafiltration and disinfection.
The plant has been operating for 12 months continuing to produce a high-quality potable water at or above design flow rates.
